New youth sport facilities in Wendouree are providing dedicated spaces for local athletes as Ballarat prepares to host several youth competitions.
Wendouree Infrastructure Supports Local Programs
The ReCranked Youth Shed and skate/BMX zones form part of the funded youth sport facilities in Wendouree. These venues are intended to increase community participation for over 1,200 local soccer players and other youth athletes. The City of Ballarat has positioned these additions to serve programs such as the Futsal Ballarat Academy, which produced Victorian representatives Sadie Smith and Madeline Hawker for the 2025 Football Australia National Futsal Championships.
Events Highlight Existing Venues
Ballarat hosted the U14 Junior Country Basketball Championships in April 2026, drawing Victorian Country participants for boys and girls events. The City of Ballarat will also stage the School Sport Australia Games in October 2026, with national championships in cricket, soccer, netball, swimming and tennis for more than 1,500 students. Ballarat High School athletes Casey, Lena and Oliver have recorded achievements in netball and cricket that align with the development pathways supported by these venues.
