Ballarat has added new youth-focused facilities at Wendouree West Recreation Reserve, including a skate and BMX zone, a street soccer area, and a ReCranked Youth Shed, to support local teenagers and community participation.
Venues Supporting Major Youth Events
The city will use more than 15 venues to host the School Sport Australia Games 03 from October 25 to November 1, 2026, where over 1,500 student athletes will compete in national championships across seven sports. These venues form part of the infrastructure that enables large-scale youth competitions drawing participants from every Australian state and territory along with a First Nations Netball Team.
Programs Running at Existing Facilities
Ballarat Little Athletics operates a program for children aged 5 to 15 years every Saturday, catering to kids of all abilities at its established grounds. The Ballarat Futsal Club has also used local facilities to develop youth female talent, with three players aged 15 and Open selected for the Victorian team at the 2025 Football Australia National Futsal Championships.
